Fishing at Riverlea Retreat

Each October, the NSW Department of Primary Industries releases over 20,000 trout fry into the Cudgegong River, often right on the Riverlea Retreat Mudgee property.

With private river access not open to the public, Riverlea Retreat offers a peaceful and exclusive fishing spot. Whether you’re an experienced angler or just enjoy the quiet of the river, you can fish in tranquillity, then return to your off-grid stay and cook your catch under the stars.

Brown and Rainbow Trout are commonly caught, along with Redfin Perch and Common Carp—both of which must be humanely killed, not released. Native species like Golden Perch may be kept, while others like Silver Perch, Trout Cod, and River Blackfish must be released.

Whether you’re fishing or witnessing the annual trout release, Riverlea Retreat offers a special off-grid experience right on the river. (Read more)
